Most group activities in New Orleans involve a bar tab. This one involves pelicans. A group kayak morning on Bayou Bienvenue costs about what a round of cocktails does, burns off the night before, and hands everyone the same story to tell at dinner.
The logistics are built for groups already: each time slot holds up to 20 guests, everything books in one reservation, and the gear (kayaks, paddles, life jackets, backrests) is waiting at the launch. Mix singles and tandems however your crew shakes out. Weaker paddlers ride the front of a tandem; the confident ones go solo.
Bachelorette and bachelor parties. The classic recovery-morning move. Book the 8:00 AM slot, paddle three hours, be back in the Quarter by lunch with skyline photos the group chat will actually use. Everyone must be 21 or older, which for this crowd has never once been a problem.
Work teams. Cheaper than an escape room, better conversations than a conference room. The out-and-back route means nobody gets left behind; the group naturally re-forms every time the front turns around.
Families and reunions. Adult families, note: every renter needs to be 21+, a swimmer, and someone who has kayaked before. For crews with kids or true first-timers, a guided tour is the better fit, and we say so plainly in our rental vs. tour comparison.
Birthdays. Add crab pots at checkout and turn it into a competition. Loser buys lunch.

Tandems make group trips cheaper per head, and honestly they make them funnier too.

One planning tip from experience: groups run late. Tell everyone a meet time 20 minutes before the real one, and check the National Weather Service New Orleans forecast the night before so the group chat doesn't have to debate the sky at 7 AM.
