We're a small New Orleans outfit that has been putting paddlers on Louisiana water for years. Somewhere along the way we noticed a gap: plenty of guided swamp tours, but almost nowhere for a confident paddler to just rent a kayak near the city and go. Renting from a shop meant strapping a boat to a rental car. Most of the good water had no easy public launch.
So we set up the self-serve launch on Bayou Bienvenue. Kayaks, paddles, and life jackets live at the dock. Booking, waivers, and unlock codes all happen online. Nobody has to hand you a clipboard, and you never haul a kayak through city traffic.
The bayou does the rest. It's a strange, gorgeous stretch of marsh that most visitors never hear about, fifteen minutes from the French Quarter and a world away from it. Shipwrecks, pelicans, gators, and a skyline view you have to see from water level to believe.
Real wildlife. Nothing out here is baited or staged. You see what the bayou decides to show you that day, which is exactly how it should be.
This wetland's future. Bayou Bienvenue is a recovering ecosystem, once a cypress swamp and now a front line for Louisiana's coastal restoration story. We want more people to see it, because people protect what they've paddled through.
